The heart behind Emerging Resilience
Hi, I’m Arwen, founder of Emerging Resilience Youth Advocacy & Support.
I’m currently in the fourth and final year of my Social Work degree and created this service from a genuine passion for supporting children and young people navigating learning differences, emotional challenges, and engagement difficulties.
Emerging Resilience grew from my own experiences as someone who is dyslexic. When I began university, I realised how much support I had received compared to many others with learning differences. That awareness created a strong sense of responsibility to do better. Although I was told I wouldn’t amount to much, I have surpassed not only others’ expectations, but my own, and I now want to use that journey to help young people and families who may not have access to the support they deserve.
I understand firsthand how overwhelming systems can feel for families. With structure, collaboration, and advocacy, children begin to build confidence, develop skills, and see themselves as capable. The right support can change how a young person experiences school, relationships, and their future.
Emerging Resilience supports youth and families who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or unsure where to turn. This work is grounded in a strengths-based and person-centred approach, collaboration, and the belief that every young person has the potential to thrive when they are genuinely seen, understood, and supported.
Our Values & Approach
Our approach is simple: We prioritise connection while respecting the role diagnosis plays in guiding support.
Through youth advocacy, parent/guardian support, and collaborative mentoring, we work alongside families to navigate the challenges of growing up with hope and partnership at the centre of everything we do. I believe every young person carries a unique spark of resilience.
Emerging Resilience offers a calm, non-clinical environment where children and families feel safe, supported, and genuinely heard.
Strengths-based & person-centred
01
We focus on each young person’s abilities, interests, and potential. Support is tailored to the individual, recognising strengths before limitations and building confidence from what already exists.
02
Culture & identity
We honour each child’s culture, identity, and lived experience, ensuring support reflects who they are and what matters to them.
Collaboration
03
We work alongside families, schools, and support networks to create clear, shared goals. Strong outcomes happen when everyone moves forward together.
04
Voice
Young people deserve to be heard. We prioritise listening, advocacy, and empowering children to express their needs, preferences, and goals.
05
Safety
We create calm, non-judgmental spaces where families feel safe, supported, and understood. Emotional safety and trust are the foundation of meaningful growth.
